Description

Habit: On submerged wood in fresh water habitats.
Ascomata: Ascomata 160–290 µm diam., 160–300 µm (Peruvian collections: venter = 88–121 µm diam, 78–115 µm high), globose to subglobose, immersed to superficial, coriaceous, white, becoming straw-colored and finally pale reddish brown, tissue of textura angularis in surface view, ostiolate, with a neck. Peridium: Peridium hyaline at first, becoming straw colored to pale brown with age, tissues of textura angularis in surface view.
Beak: Necks 100¬–150 x 45–65 µm (Peruvian collections: 90–178 x 29–36 µm expanding to 34–82 µm at the apex), cylindrical, broadening at the apex, of parallel hyphae, periphysate, hyaline at first, becoming a rose-brown color. Aquaticola hyalomura - Beak
Hamathecium: Paraphyses 2–3.5 µm wide at the base, tapering slightly to a rounded apex, xxxx long, septate, mostly unbranched, occasionally branched. Aquaticola hyalomura - Hamathecium
Ascus: Asci 52–63 x 7–8 µm (mean = 58 x 7.4 µm, n = 10), broadly oblong, pedicellate, unitunicate, thin-walled, persistent, apex slightly truncate, with a small faintly bipartite, refractive, J- apical ring (ca. 4 µm diam., 2 µm long). Aquaticola hyalomura - Ascus
Ascospore: Ascospores 10–14 x 5–7 µm, (mean = 12.2 x 5.8 µm = 25) (Peruvian collection = 11–15 x 6–8 µm), overlapping uniseriate to biseriate, ellipsoidal, with rounded ends, hyaline, unicellular, smooth, thin-walled, with 2 large guttules, with a thin, mucilaginous sheath (ascospore sheath not seen in Peruvian collection). Sheath: Thin gelatinous sheath seen in type specimen; sheath not observed in specimen from Peru.
Appendage: Not observed.
