Ascomata: Ascomata on submerged wood, 350–650 X 340– 660 µm, immersed in the substrate, globose, membranous, brown to black, ostiolate. Bullimyces communis - Ascomata
Peridium: Thin walled, comprised of dark pigmented cells.
Beak: Neck 100–170 X 60–80 µm, cylindrical, dark brown.
Hamathecium: Of pseudoparenchyma of thin-walled cells 38–90 µm diam, globose, hyaline, filling the centrum, deliquescing at maturity. Bullimyces communis - Hamathecium
Ascus: Asci 310–430 X 18–22 µm, unitunicate, cylindrical, thin-walled, lacking an apical pore and apical structures, floating free within the centrum, eight-spored, uniseriate. Bullimyces communis - Ascus
Ascospore: Ascospores 40–48 X 19–22 µm (mean = 43.70 X 20.20 µm, n = 30), broadly ellipsoidal-fusiform to ellipsoidal, hyaline, three-septate, not constricted at septa, thick-walled (2–3 µm), with hyaline, gelatinous caps at both apices, 2–3 µm long, staining in aqueous nigrosin, accumulating in a mass at tip of the neck after discharge. Bullimyces communis - Ascospore
Sheath: None observed.
Appendage: Gelatinous caps at both apices, 2–3 µm long, staining in aqueous nigrosin. Bullimyces communis - Appendage
