Description

Habit: Ascomata immersed, semi-immersed or occasionally superficial on wood.
Ascomata: Ascomata 150-440 µm diam., ellipsoidal ur subglobose, dark-brown to black, immersed, semi-immersed, occasionally superficial, coriaceous, solitary, ostiolate and beaked.
Peridium: Peridium up to 20 µm wide, comprising several rows of brown-walled, irregular, angular cells.
Beak: Beaks up to 200 µm long, 70 µm wide and periphysate.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses to 3 µm diam. at the base, septate, sparse, tapering.
Ascus: Asci 98-142 x 7-10.5 µm, 8-spored, cylindrical, thin-walled, pedicellate, with a relatively massive refractive J-subglobose apical ring, 4-4.5 µm diam., 3-4 µm high.
Ascospore: Ascospores 20-26 x 6-7 µm. 1-2 seriate, short fusiform, ends blunt, 3-septate in mature specimens, hyaline, appearing smooth-walled.
Sheath: Not present.
Appendage: Not present.
