Habit: |
Superficial on submerged wood. |

Ascomata: |
Ascomata 106-312 µm in diam., 220-460 µm high, globose or subglobose, mostly superficial, brown to black, coriaceous, perpendicular or horizontal to the host surface, papillate, aperiphysate, solitary or gregarious. |

Peridium: |
Peridium 12- 19 µm wide at the base, comprising textura intricata, hyaline at the inside and brown outwardly, fusing at the outside with the host cells, becoming wider and dark brown above, 25-37.5 µm wide composed of brown thick walled textura angularis. |

Hamathecium: |
Paraphyses up to 6 µm at the base, filamentous, septate, tapering, not in a gelatinous matrix. |

Ascus: |
Asci 112-130 x 7.5-8.5 µm, 8-spored, cylindrical, unitunicate, pedicellate, apically rounded, with a refractive apical ring, 5-6 µm diam., 3.5-4.5 µm high. |

Ascospore: |
Ascospores 16-25 x 5-7 µm, uniseriate, (2-)3(-5)-septate, slightly constructed at the septa, yellow or light brown, end cells lighter in color, smooth-walled. |

on PDA very slow-growing, reaching 5mm diam. in 1 yr. Mycelium mostly immersed although cottony and hyaline in the center, tan colored from above, brown in the center, pale brown from below, not sporulating in culture even after one year. |
