Description

Habit: Saprobic, partly to fully immersed in submerged wood.
Ascomata: Ascomata 480-744 x 297-518 µm, solitary to aggregated, partly to fully immersed in the wood, oblique to horizontal (swan-like), dark brown to black, globose to subglobose.
Peridium: Peridium composed of 3-5 layers of cells of textura angularis, with hairy, septate, unbranched, brown, hyphae on the wall and neck.
Beak: Not present.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses filiform, septate, hyaline, simple, rarely branched and deliquescing early.
Ascus: Asci 274-308 x 17-21 µm, cylindrical, 8-spored, pedicellate, unitunicate, with a prominent non-amyloid apical ring (annulus), 7.5-9.7 x 11.4-13 µm.
Ascospore: Ascospores 53-62 x 14-16 µm, uniseriate, fusoid, transversely 7-septate, not constricted, smooth-walled, central cells brown and large, with smaller hyaline to sub-hyaline end cells..
Sheath: Not present.
Appendage: Not present.

Type & Location: HTP0421-W2 on decaying twigs collected from a stream at Hsutoupu. Deposited at the Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica.
