Description

Habit: Saprobic, partly to fully immersed in submerged wood.
Ascomata: Ascomata 307-410 x 205-273 µm, solitary ro aggregated, partly to fully immersed in wood, oblique to horizontal, pale brown to brown, globose to subglobose.
Peridium: textura angularis, with no hairs on the surface.
Beak: None
Hamathecium: Paraphyses filiform, septate, hyaline, simple to rarely branched and deliquescing early.
Ascus: 120-140 x 12.3-13.4 µm, cylindrical, 8-spored, pedicellate, functionally unitunicate, with a prominent apical annulus 3.8-4.5 x 5.8-7.2 µm. Ascotaiwania hsilio - Ascus
Ascospore: 25.3-29 x 7.1-7.7 µm, uniseriate, fusoid, transversely 5-septate, not constricted, smooth-walled, central cells large and brown, end cells smaller, hyaline to sub-hyaline. Ascotaiwania hsilio - Ascospore

Substratum: submerged decaying wood.
