Description

Habit: Saprobic, semi-immersed in submerged wood.
Ascomata: 400-450 µm high, 500-560 µm diam., semi-immersed, subglobose, black, coriaceous, solitary to gregarious.
Peridium: 20-45 µm, composed of 5-7 layers of brown angular cells.
Beak: None
Hamathecium: Paraphyses 250-325 x 3.8-5 µm, hypha like, septate, branched and tapering toward the apex.
Ascus: Asci 325-375 x 25-35 µm, 8-spored, cylindrical, short pedicellate, apically rounded with a relatively massive, J- apical ring, 7.5-10 µm high, 12.5-15 µm wide.
Ascospore: Ascospores 62.5-72.5 x 12.5-17.5 µm (x = 66.4 x 15.1 µm, n = 25), overlapping uniseriate, fusiform, 7-septate, not constricted at the septa, brown with hyaline end cells which are mitriform in shape, smooth-walled.
Sheath: Not present.
Appendage: Not present.
