Description

Habit: On submerged stems of Scirpus atrovirens.
Ascomata: Apothecia 80–250 x 45–70 µm, scattered, grayish white, stipitate; disc 45–60 µm in diam., convex; stipe cylindrical, up to 90 µm high, with darkened base, flexuous.
Peridium: Ectal excipulum of textura globosa, or at times textura angularis, olivaceous to brown, thin walled. Medullary excipulum of textura porrecta, hyaline.
Beak: None.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses 50–70 x 1.5–2.5 µm, hyaline, smooth, mostly branched, at times simple.
Ascus: Asci 44–64 x 4–6 µm, clavate, inoperculate, with broad apex, tapering to a narrow tip, with a pore, thick-walled, MLZ+, with 8 uniseriate or biseriate ascospores
Ascospore: Ascospores 7–10 x 2–3 µm, clavate, guttulate, hyaline, aseptate when young, becoming 1-septate, septum supra median, with a unipolar gelatinous appendage at the basal end; appendage rounded and caducous, not seen in lactic acid.
Sheath: None.
Appendage: Appendages unipolar, gelatinous at the basal end; appendage, rounded and caducous; not seen in lactic acid .
