Description

Habit: Ascomata superficial on submerged stems of Scirpus atrovirens.
Ascomata: Apothecia 1.5–2.5 mm in diam., cupulate, white or pale-yellow when fresh, becoming yellowish brown, especially toward the base, stipitate. Disc 416–600 µm in diam., concave, becoming somewhat flat at maturity, white. Stipe about 1.5 mm high, 192 µm wide, yellow to creamy white, brown when dry especially toward the base.
Peridium: Ectal excipulum of textura porrecta, composed of slightly angular or at times globose cells. Medullary excipulum of textura porrecta, cells forming a textura intricata toward subhymenial area.
Beak: Not applicable.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses 100–110 x 2.5–3 µm, filiform, hyaline, with small guttules at the apices.
Ascus: Asci (90-) 105–118 x 8–10 µm, clavate, tapering to a slightly rounded tip, inoperculate, apical pore staining faintly in MLZ, with 8 overlapping biseriate ascospores.
Ascospore: Ascospores 18–29.5 x 4–6 µm, ellipsoid or obovoid-fusiform, at times rounded at one end, at times with curved tip, hyaline, guttulate, 1-septate, occasionally 2-septate; with cilia on both ends or sometimes without cilia, cilia 2.5–3 µm long, cylindrical, curved toward the ascospore tip.
Sheath: None observed.
Appendage: Sometimes with cilia at the ascospore apices.
