Description

Habit: On submerged Scirpus validus and Scirpus brevidcaudatus; lentic.
Ascomata: Ascomata 187–234 x 156–199 µm, scattered, or in groups, immersed, globose, papillate, dark brown.
Peridium: Peridium 8–12 µm wide, composed of 3 or 4 layers of pseudoparenchymatic cells; cells 6–11 x 2–4 µm, of textura angularis, darker externally.
Beak: Papillae 50–78 x 30–43 µm, centric, brown, periphysate, at times wide at the apex.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses 35–40 x 3–4 µm, wide at the base, tapering toward the apex, usually constricted at the septa, immersed in gel.
Ascus: Asci (65-) 70–85 x 13–16 µm, clavate, persistent, fasciculate, with a small refractive apical apparatus, MLZ-, staining faintly with aqueous cotton blue, with 8 overlapping uniseriate or biseriate ascospores.
Ascospore: Ascospores 12–16 x 5–7 µm, ellipsoid-rhomboid to fusoid, multiguttulate, hyaline, smooth, without a sheath or appendages.
Sheath: Absent.
Appendage: Absent.
