Description

Habit: Saprobic on submerged, decomposed wood.
Ascomata: Ascomata 624–640 x 344–360 µm, superficial with partially immersed base, pyriform, dark-brown, covered with a yellow tomentum, grouped or scattered
Peridium: Peridium 31–43 µm thick, composed of 4 to 6 layers of pseudoparenchymatic cells, opaque, membranous and subhyaline at the base when the base is immersed, darker near the beak; cells 6–14 x 2–6 µm, of textura angularis in surface view and median longitudinal section
Beak: Beak 190–216 x 96–136 µm, cylindrical, curved at the apex, ostiolate, periphysate, dark-brown, composed of elongated outer cells and rounded inner cells toward the base.
Hamathecium: Paraphyses up to 390 µm long and 3-5 µm wide, wider at the base, tapering toward the apex.
Ascus: Asci 165.5–195 (-230) x 15.5–23.5 (-26) µm, cylindric-clavate, unitunicate with a large refractive apical apparatus, MLZ-, IKI-, tapering to a long stipe, containing eight obliquely uniseriate to biseriate ascospores
Ascospore: Ascospores when young 85.5–94 x 4–6.5 µm, hyaline, sigmoid or geniculate, provided with bipolar appendages, when mature (87-) 92–101 x 6–9.5 µm, reddish brown, guttulate, with appendages.
Sheath: None observed.
Appendage: Appendages bipolar, gelatinous.
