Description

Habit: Saprobic on submerged, decomposed stems of Carex oligosperma.
Ascomata: Ascomata 280–355 x 230–285 µm, superficial, scattered, globose or subglobose, at times ovate, covered with greyish-brown hairs; hairs mostly of two types: towards the apex and around the ostiole dark brown, unbranched, septate, straight, with coiled end, 5–6 µm thick at the base, warted; toward the base hairs mostly light brown, unbranched, at times smooth, 1.5–2.5 µm thick, wavy; ascomata ostiolate; ostiole 30–35 µm in diam..
Peridium: Peridium 19–28 µm thick, composed of 3 or 4 layers of pseudoparenchymatic cells; cells in surface view of textura intricata, in median longitudinal section of textura angularis, 8–18 x 4–6.5 µm, smaller and globose around the ostiole.
Beak:
Hamathecium: Paraphyses evanescent at maturity, filamentous when young.
Ascus: Asci 40–50 x 10–12 µm, clavate, narrowing to a slender stipe, unitunicate, evanescent, fasciculate, 8-spored.
Ascospore: Ascospores 8–10 x 5.5–8 µm, limoniform, subapiculate, at times appearing compressed when viewed from the side.
Sheath: None observed.
