Habit: |
On Vaccinium macrocarpon, V. oxycoccus and Ledum groenlandicum. |

Ascomata: |
Ascomata 70–84 x (47-) 52–70 µm, scattered or gregarious, ovoid, dark brown, with brown intramaterical hyphae, 2-4 µm thick. Subcuticular hyphae dark brown. Setae (40-) 55–60 x 4–6 µm, dark brown to black, non-septate, confined to upper portion of ascomata near ostiole, mostly geniculate, at times straight. |

Peridium: |
Peridium 5.5–6.5 µm thick, composed of 1 or 2 layers of pseudoparenchymatic cells, of textura angularis or textura globosa in longitudinal section; cells 2.5–6 (-8) µm in diam., thick-walled, dark brown. |

Hamathecium: |
Pseudoparaphyses cellular, 1–2 µm thick, with gelatinous sheath not staining in India ink, deliquescing at maturity. |

Ascus: |
Asci (38-) 44–50 x 6–8 µm, clavate, pyriform to obpyriform, fissitunicate, with 8 overlapping biseriate ascospores. |

Ascospore: |
Ascospores 9.5–14 x 3.5–5.5 µm, elliptical to broadly clavate at the upper cell, upper cell at times slightly rhomboid, hyaline to light brown, faintly verruculose, with small guttules, 1-septate, constricted at the septum; septum median, ascospores forcibly discharged, provided with a thick gelatinous sheath. |
